Day 409 - Stripping Stuff Off the Engine

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Okay, well I knew that I still needed to remove the power steering pump and move the alternator from the driver’s side to the passenger’s side but I’m not sure how it’s meant to go back on - maybe blu tack might work.

Am yet to work out if anything else needs to come off the engine OR if there’s something that I’ve taken off that really should have stayed on….. all part of the learning I suppose.

Day 405 - More Stuff Done!!

Monday, August 25th, 2008

After replacing the clutch plate and thrust bearing earlier in July, I have now also replaced the rear crankshaft seal and put it all back together again.  I’m still working on the diff - in that all of the original brackets have now been removed and a large part of the dirt and grime have been removed with the flap disk.  There is still the main centre casing to clean, the original lugs to cut off and the actual break/hub ends to finish cleaning.  Once the diff is finished, I hope to weld the brackets on and put it in the car.  Once that’s done, all things being equal, I can put the engine in…….. well it’s good to have a dream!
